Broncin’ Sunsets Event – Southwest Florida October 17-21, 2024
You won’t want to miss a chance to experience unforgettable sunsets and the excitement of a
championship rodeo all while staying at a Five-Star Luxury Resort in Port Charlotte, Florida. Your home
for 4 days will be at the beautiful Myakka River Motorcoach Resort https://www.myakkamotorcoachresort.com/ . The resort is located directly on the Myakka River, nestled
among three lakes. A private boardwalk and gazebo are yours to enjoy along with fishing and kayaking
from the dock, an oversized pool, and, of course, pickleball.
Arrival is on Thursday (9 AM to 4 PM) along with a social hour, BBQ dinner, and orientation. Our social
hour will be held on the sunset patio with a front row seat for Myakka’s Famous Sunsets.
Friday’s highlight is a sunset cruise (www.kingfisherfleet.com) through Punta Gorda Harbor. An optional
pre-cruise dinner with waterfront views of the harbor awaits at Harpoon Harry’s. You’ll want to leave a
bit early to enjoy Fisherman’s Village, take in some shopping, and read the legacy boards about the
history of the area. Punta Gorda is a delightful little town!
Saturday is a free day. There is so much to see in the area! Take a trip to Sanibel Island and the new
National Shell Museum and Aquarium and hunt for shells and sea glass. If you are into birding, Ding
Darling National Wildlife Refuge is also on Sanibel Island. Looking for a beach day? There are many to
choose from, just ask. Or revisit your childhood with a trip to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. In
nearby Ft. Myers you can immerse yourself in the fascinating friendship of inventor Thomas Edison and
automotive magnate Henry Ford at the charming Winter Estates of Edison and Ford . At the end of your
day, join us for Social Hour on the Sunset Deck. Later that evening, we’ll cool down with an ice cream
sundae bar and learn about Florida’s Sea Turtles.
Sunday, we will carpool to Arcadia for an afternoon at the rodeo. The Arcadia Championship Rodeo
(www.arcadiarodeo.com) draws top athletes in PRCA to compete for a chance to make it to the national
finals in Las Vegas. Events include Bareback Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and more. We will
return to the campground for a chili dinner with a vegetable soup option, sides, and dessert.
We are limited to just 28 sites at the campground, so reserve your spot early. We also want to procure
the best rodeo seats, so again, the earlier the better.
The rally includes 4 nights camping, two dinners, an ice cream social, 2 social hours (with wine, beer,
soda, water, and snacks), Sea Turtle Talk, Rodeo tickets, and Sunset Cruise . Please visit www.fcocrv.org
to register and for more information. Deadline to register is August 27.
